IRW Director Dr. Lauren Gould spoke at the PAX online symposium The War of Tomorrow: How are novel military technologies changing modern conflicts?
The rapidly growing use of drones and robots, and data-driven military analysis will likely have profound impacts on the future of warfare. The symposium featured a wide array of experts who weighed in on this important topic. The speakers included IRW Director and Assistant Professor of Conflict Studies Dr. Lauren Gould; Lieutenant colonel Martijn Hädicke from the Commander Robot Autonomous Systems Unit at the Royal Netherlands Army; Bianca Torossian, a research fellow at the The Hague Centre for Security Studies; Wim Zwijnenburg, the Humanitarian Disarmament Project Leader at PAX, and Coordinator at the European Forum on Armed Drones. In the latter half of the symposium two Dutch parliamentary members Salima Belhaj from D66 and Tom van den Nieuwenhuijzen from Groenlinks also contributed to the discussion.
