Koen Janssen
Project Officer
Koen Janssen serves as a Project Officer for the Intimacies of Remote Warfare Programme. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Language and Cultural Studies (TCS) from Utrecht University, with a Minor in Conflict Studies (2022). For his Bachelor’s thesis, Koen explored the persuasive elements within a Dutch documentary series focused on Dutchbat III veterans. Currently, he is pursuing a Master's degree in Conflict Studies and Human Rights at Utrecht University where his thesis uses assemblage thinking to explore the pursuit of facial recognition software by Dutch law enforcement. In his role as Project Officer, he supports the ongoing commissioned research project on twenty years of Western interventionism in Afghanistan at the NIOD institute for war, holocaust, and genocide studies in which IRW researchers are embedded.
