In this podcast Jolle Demmers gives a key-note speech for one of the panels during the conference organised by the Oxford Research Group Conceptualising Remote Warfare: The Past, Present and Future (2018). Based on her work with Lauren Gould on AFRICOM and the ‘hunt’ for Joseph Kony, Demmers argues that the shift to liquid warfare should be understood as ‘grounded in the political economy of late modernity, in which control over a territory or population has ceased to be the stake of the global power struggle’.
